The Android App for GoToMeeting just got a whole lot cooler. With last nights update, GoToMeeting (US) customers can now start their scheduled meetings directly from the App!
It can be pretty embarrassing when you’re late to your own meeting, but it happens to all of us sometimes. You schedule a time that magically works for everyone and then get held up by something unexpected and have to rush to your desk in order to start the meeting on time.
Well now you can log in from from your Android device and start the meeting for everyone else, from anywhere! Not only that, once people start joining you can make one of them the Presenter or even Organizer, all from the App!
Log In to the App & Start a Scheduled Meeting
Using the GoToMeeting app for Android on a smartphone, GoToMeeting U.S. organizers can now log in to their GoToMeeting account and start previously scheduled meetings from an Android smartphone or tablet by either swiping from the Join screen to the Host screen or toggling to the Host tab.
On a tablet, GoToMeeting U.S. organizers can tap the Organizer icon on the Join screen to log in.
To start a scheduled meeting, organizers can tap a meeting and click Start.
To refresh their list of scheduled meetings, organizers can tap the Refresh icon .
Choose a Presenter
From the Attendee List, organizers can make someone else who joins from a Windows or Mac the presenter so that person can share their computer screen.
Make Someone an Organizer
From the Attendee List, organizers can make someone else who joined from a Windows, Mac or Android device the organizer. They can also select the Invite Others icon to invite attendees to join the meeting. Note: At this time, iOS attendees cannot be made organizers.
Dismiss an Attendee
From the Attendee List, organizers can dismiss an attendee to immediately remove them from the meeting.
Note: Although Windows or Mac attendees promoted to organizers currently see the option to mute all or individual attendees, they will be unable to do so until a follow-up release. Also, Windows and Mac participants who join a meeting started from an Android device are currently unable to share webcams; however, this will also be addressed in a follow up release.
Leave the Meeting
If an Android organizer does not make someone else an organizer before leaving a meeting, the organizer only sees options to End Meeting for Everyone and Cancel. If an Android organizer does make someone else an organizer before leaving a meeting, the organizer sees options to Leave Meeting (without ending it for everyone), End Meeting for Everyone and Cancel.
I am sure some of you will be disappointed that you cannot share your Androids screen yet, but you have to admit this is a pretty useful feature that has been added. And there is only more to come!
